Cheeky Monkeys love swinging in our Sky Room!
Our Sky Room is where you’ll find a large number of swings that your cheeky monkey will love to play with, not even realising that they’re benefiting from therapy at the same time! Depending on when you visit, you might find one of our speech therapists, occupational therapists, or physiotherapists in the sky room, engaging a child and their family in meaningful, effective therapy. Swings include a bolster swing, a net swing, a trapeze, a rope ladder, a hammock, Lycra clouds in the colours of the sun and the sky, plus many more! Our special reinforced hanging frames provide an almost infinite combination of suspension points for our swings, giving our therapists the opportunity to create unique obstacle courses for the children to enjoy.
Here you can see one of Helen’s sons proudly demonstrating his ability to climb to the top of the trapeze. Although he is up very high, our safety equipment, which includes Australian Standard mats and large foam-filled crash pillows, as well as our one-on-one supervision with encouraging therapists, gives kids the confidence to exceed their own expectations.
Our Sky Room also features our large neurological plinth, which is not only useful for rehabilitation of people with neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries, but can also be used as a change table for those too large for a standard change table. The neurological plinth has an adjustable backrest, removable face insert and electric up-down mechanism, giving both therapist and clients of all ages maximum comfort.
The mirrored wall in the Sky Room gives important visual feedback for those with poor proprioception, which is also known as body position sense. By being able to see where their body is in the mirror, people of all ages with motor planning problems can get another form of feedback to help them correct and better plan their movements.
